You may have heard me talking about Extremadura in one of our videos about Spain’s off the beaten path highlights with the beautiful UNESCO world heritage sites like Caceres, Trujillo and the Roman heritage of Merida or the gorgeous landscapes and opportunities for walking ancient trails to castles.
Yes Extremadura is rustic Spain at it’s best but there’s another reason to not miss this authentic side of Spain…
The amazing Spanish cheeses produced in this large, mountainous, ancient region in western Spain that is home to lots of sheep, goats and cattle that produce the milk needed for savory cheeses. In fact I have seen Extremadura’s cheeses in gourmet shops in London, New York and Seoul, Korea! I also found the most expensive olive oil ever which was from Extremadura in the Korean capital but that’s a story for another day.
