Plan my 2020 private tour of Spain

Dear Magical Spain.

Your agency comes very highly recommended by a doctor friend of the family who traveled with you and did your Best of Spain private tour in 2018!

Can you help me plan my 2020 private tour of Spain? I’d need a detailed itinerary for a unique Spain trip with lots of culture, art, food, wine, some active days ( to burn of the tapas!) luxury hotels and top guides?… Can you make this happen?

Before I give you my España wish list I would like to let you know that I am a well-traveled retired business person. Also, we have seen a lot of European churches and cathedrals in my travels and I don’t want to spend a lot of time visiting them unless they’ve special historical significance.

This list is in no specific order and I would rely on your experience to suggest the itinerary and if a listed location is worth the limited.

We are not restricted to the aforementioned 10 days time frame.

Barcelona- we arrive by cruise ship that morning and will probably have time for a tour that afternoon, maybe a tapas and wine. Sagrada Familia, Park Guell, Picasso Museum

Granada – Alhambra, Royal Chapel, the Albayzin Cordoba- Mezquita

Sevilla- Alcázar, flamenco, food tour White hill towns, spend the night in Ronda at a romantic hotel with a beautiful view and meal at a nice restaurant.

Madrid – Royal Palace, Prado Museum and food tour. Maybe a day trip to Toledo or Segovia. Let me know what you think about how this looks or how to improve it.

Hi Susan, Kate & Jason!
Thanks for your email on Saturday.   Congratulations! Your list is quite good I can see your history expertise serves you well 🙂 This is all right in our wheelhouse.
We typically cover those attractions on our Best of Spain private trip.  As you know, we customize our trips so we’d just reverse the order to start in Barcelona.
As to additions, I’d consider what we (and the UNESCO experts) consider outstanding & unique:
huge & unique medieval cathedral of Seville with the Moorish minaret tower converted to Christian bell tower.
Then in from Madrid, a private day trip to Toledo for the Cathedral and old town (lots of churches though) or Segovia.
Both are very impressive.  Segovia is probably a bit more romantic with a bit less tourism,
an amazing Roman aqueduct and spectacular castle on a clifftop. We often combine Segoviawith a quick visit to La Granja, a Royal countryside palace and gardens of a French Spanish Kingwho was inspired by Versailles in France.
Below you can see the starting 2019 pricing with both 5 star & 4 star options for the Best of Spain private trip.

So would we just add another day in Madrid to visit Segovia? Another thought, two years ago I was on a cruise with a stop in Cadiz with a trip to Sevilla and the Alhambra. I have never seen so many tour buses in my life .

That was an not enjoyable experience. I hope that by using your expertise we can have a trip that minimizes the extreme crowds as I enjoy going at a slower and read and take in the sites. Also have I mentioned that I enjoy good food. I do not want to eat in tourist traps. Looking forward to hearing from you.

So would we just add another day in Madrid to visit Segovia?  –  it’s your call 100%. Currently, the plan is for 3 nights in Madrid with 2 days in Madrid with 1 private chauffeured day trip to Segovia or Toledo. So 2 options:  you might do one intense day in Madrid and the 2 private day trips (Segovia + Toledo) with some additional cost. Or add 1 night & day in Madrid which allow a more relaxed pace with some additional cost of course.
