Interior colonnade of the Hassan II Mosque, Casablanca, Morocco

Day One

Welcome to Casablanca, Morocco

On arrival, our meet & greet agent welcomes you at Mohammed V International Airport and escorts you through immigration and customs via fast track, while a porter handles your luggage. Outside the terminal, your private driver is waiting to take you to your hotel, where a welcome gift of Moroccan products awaits in your room. We can arrange for spa services, a dinner reservation, or a private tour, if desired. Our planners can explain in more detail.

Fountain and Court of Appeals at Place Mohammed V, Casablanca, Morocco

Day Two

Casablanca to Tangier: Hassan II Mosque, Boulevard de la Corniche & Rick’s Café

The morning begins with a private tour of Casablanca, starting at the Hassan II Mosque, built partially over the Atlantic and one of the few mosques in Morocco open to non-Muslim visitors. Your private guide then leads you along the Boulevard de la Corniche and into the old medina. Lunch follows at Rick’s Café, set in a restored 1930s mansion against the walls of the old medina and conceived as a recreation of the fictional cabaret from the 1942 film, now one of Casablanca’s best-known addresses. After lunch, your private driver takes you north to Tangier, where the Atlantic and Mediterranean converge on Morocco’s northern coast.

Sunset at Cap Spartel, Tangier, Morocco

Day Three

Tangier: Medina, a Private Villa & Cap Spartel at Sunset

The morning begins with a private tour of Tangier, starting in the medina past the Grand Mosque and the Church of the Immaculate Conception, before reaching the Old American Legation, the first American public property outside the United States. From there, your guide leads you through the Kasbah and into the Grand Socco, with time at the Mohamed Drissi Gallery of Contemporary Art. In the afternoon, continue to Tebarek Allah, the hillside villa of Italian writer Umberto Pasti, restored in collaboration with French designer Stephan Janson and known for its centuries-old tiles, Berber furniture, and gardens of native Moroccan plants, rarely open to visitors. The day ends at Cap Spartel and the Hercules Caves, carved by the sea into the cliffs at the northwestern tip of Africa. Arrive in time for sunset.

Woman in a red dress in the blue-painted medina of Chefchaouen, Morocco

Day Four

Tangier to Fes: Chefchaouen & the Rif Mountains

Your private driver and guide travel inland through the Rif Mountains toward Chefchaouen. In the medina, your guide leads you through steep blue-painted lanes to Callejón El Asri, where bright flowerpots line the steps and the town’s blue facades rise closely around you. The route continues to Plaza Uta el-Hammam, the heart of the medina, anchored by a 15th-century kasbah and a mosque with an unusual octagonal minaret. From the Spanish Mosque above town, the full panorama opens over Chefchaouen and the surrounding hills. The journey then continues south toward Fes, arriving by late afternoon.

Chouara Tannery in the medina of Fez, Morocco

Day Five

Fes: The Ancient Medina, the Tanneries & Dinner in a Moroccan Riad

The day begins at Borj Sud, a 16th-century fortress above the city, where the full spread of Fes el-Bali opens below before you enter it. Your private guide leads you through the medina, a UNESCO World Heritage Site founded in the 9th century, from Al Quaraouiyine, founded in 859 by Fatima al-Fihri and widely regarded as the world’s oldest continuously operating institution of higher learning, through the Bou Inania Medersa, a 14th-century school known for its cedar wood, carved stucco, and zellige tilework, to the Chouara Tanneries, where natural dye vats and traditional leatherworking methods remain in use in a craft shaped over centuries. In the evening, dinner is served in a family riad, where you are welcomed to the table for a meal rooted in Moroccan tradition.

Roman arch at Volubilis archaeological site, Morocco

Day Six

Fes to Meknès: Volubilis & Villa Volubilia – Domaine de la Zouina

A private transfer takes you through the countryside toward Meknès and Volubilis, the best-preserved Roman archaeological site in Morocco and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where mosaic floors, a triumphal arch, and basilica ruins spread across an open hillside. From there, the route continues to Villa Volubilia – Domaine de la Zouina for a private wine and food experience set among vineyards, olive groves, and rolling hills. The visit unfolds across three tasting moments: a sulfur-free red in the estate’s agroforestry project, a barrel tasting drawn with a pipette in the cellar, and a final pour in a secret room beneath the historic villa. Lunch follows on the terrace overlooking the vines, with dishes such as kefta paired with Volubilia Classic and chicken tagine with Epicuria Shiraz. Your private driver returns you to Fes as the afternoon light fades over the hills

Private dinner table in the Sahara Desert, Morocco

Day Seven

Fes to the Sahara: Rissani, Erfoud & the Dunes of Erg Chebbi

Your private driver and guide take you south from Fes through the changing landscapes of inland Morocco toward the Tafilalet region, long shaped by its oases, date palms, and agricultural tradition. In Rissani, former capital of Tafilalet and birthplace of Morocco’s ruling Alaouite dynasty, your guide leads you through the covered souk, where trade routes from across the Sahara once converged. The route continues to Erfoud, known for its fossil workshops and quarries. This part of Morocco was once covered by sea, and the fossilized remains of ancient marine life still shape local craftsmanship today. From Erfoud, a private 4x4 transfer takes you through the dunes of Erg Chebbi toward Merzouga, where a luxury tented camp awaits, with private tents furnished with handcrafted Moroccan pieces. Upon arrival, a sunset camel ride leads into the dunes, followed by dinner under the stars and an evening by the campfire with music performed by local musicians.

Camel ride in the Sahara Desert, Morocco

Day Eight

Day Eight Merzouga: Khamlia, Nomadic Traditions & the Dunes of Erg Chebbi

The day begins at sunrise over Erg Chebbi, with time for sandboarding on the dunes before breakfast back at camp. Your private driver and guide then take you through the desert around Merzouga, beginning in Khamlia, a small village known for its Gnawa musical tradition, inscribed by UNESCO in 2019 as Intangible Cultural Heritage. The sounds of qraqeb, drums, and chant offer an introduction to this living tradition. The route continues to the dunes, where time with Amazigh nomads offers a closer view of a way of life shaped by the pace and demands of the desert. At midday, lunch is served in a local restaurant, where medfouna, a regional specialty of the Sahara, is prepared to order. In the afternoon, a guided quad ride takes you back into the dunes before returning to camp for dinner under the desert sky.

Kasbah and palm groves in the Skoura oasis, Morocco

Day Nine

Merzouga to Ouarzazate: Ksar El Khorbat, Skoura & the Road West

Your private driver and guide take you west from Merzouga through the changing landscapes of southern Morocco toward the Todra Valley. A stop at the Oasis Museum inside Ksar El Khorbat, a rammed-earth fortified village, traces the history of life in the oases of southeastern Morocco through artifacts, pottery, photographs, and maps. The journey continues through the Skoura oasis, where mudbrick kasbahs such as Amridil rise among date palms and cultivated fields. By afternoon, you reach Ouarzazate, once a vital stop for trans-Saharan caravans moving north, and today the gateway to the desert south.

Aït Benhaddou UNESCO-listed ksar in Morocco

Day Ten

Ouarzazate to Marrakech: Taourirt Kasbah, Aït Benhaddou & the High Atlas

The morning in Ouarzazate begins at Taourirt Kasbah, the former residence of the Glaoui family, one of the most powerful dynasties in southern Morocco in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Its rammed-earth walls, towers, courtyards, and narrow passageways reflect the kind of architecture through which power was exercised in this part of Morocco. From here, your private driver and guide continue to Aït Benhaddou, the UNESCO-listed ksar on the historic route between Marrakech and the Sahara. Set above the riverbed in layers of earthen walls and terraces, it has appeared in Lawrence of Arabia, Gladiator, and Game of Thrones. Walking its narrow lanes and climbing toward the upper terraces, the old caravan route still feels near. After Aït Benhaddou, the road turns north across the High Atlas toward Marrakech, the fortified settlements of southern Morocco gradually giving way to the first lights of the city by evening.

Koutoubia Mosque in Marrakech, Morocco

Day Eleven

Marrakech: The Medina, Artisan Workshops & Historic Quarters

Your private guide leads you through Marrakech’s UNESCO-listed medina on a full day that combines major historic landmarks with a more local reading of the old city. The morning begins at the Koutoubia Mosque, the 12th-century Almohad monument whose minaret still defines the skyline, before continuing to the Saadian Tombs, rediscovered in 1917, and Bahia Palace, built in the late 19th century around a sequence of gardens, courtyards, and richly decorated rooms. The route then moves through the lanes of the Mellah, Marrakech’s historic Jewish quarter, and the Ben Youssef Medersa, the 16th-century theological college that once housed up to 800 students. Later, the focus shifts to carefully selected artisan workshops away from the more heavily touristed shops, chosen for the quality of their silk, leather, and antiques.

Hot air balloon ride near Marrakech, Morocco

Day Twelve

Marrakech: Sunrise Balloon Flight, Majorelle Garden & the Yves Saint Laurent Museum

Before dawn, rise above the plains outside Marrakech on a private hot air balloon flight, as Berber villages, palm groves, and the Oued Tensift Valley begin to take shape below and the snow-capped Atlas Mountains catch the first light on the horizon. A live saxophonist may also accompany the flight. After landing, breakfast is served beneath a traditional Berber tent. Later, return to Marrakech with your private guide for Majorelle Garden, created by Jacques Majorelle in the 1920s and later restored by Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé, where cobalt blue, dense planting, and bold geometry give the garden its unmistakable character. The visit continues at the Berber Museum and the Yves Saint Laurent Museum, where Amazigh objects, textiles, sketches, and haute couture bring together Morocco’s material culture and the designer’s long connection to Marrakech.

View of the UNESCO-listed medina of Essaouira, Morocco, through the city walls

Day Thirteen

Essaouira: The Atlantic Coast, Val d’Argan & the Medina

Your private driver and guide take you west from Marrakech toward the Atlantic coast. Along the way, the route pauses at a small farm in a quiet village for a tasting of local specialties, before continuing to Ounagha and Domaine du Val d’Argan, the French-owned winery set among 52 hectares of vines in the western Moroccan countryside. Wines made from Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre, and Viognier are served with lunch at the estate before the road continues to Essaouira. A walled Atlantic port, Essaouira is known for its UNESCO-listed medina, laid out in the late 18th century according to European military principles. Behind the ramparts, whitewashed houses, blue shutters, thuya wood workshops, and the working port give the city a character entirely different from Morocco’s inland medinas. Your guide leads you along the Skala de la Ville, the sea-facing rampart above the Atlantic and a filming location for Game of Thrones, before continuing to Place Moulay Hassan at the heart of the medina. In the late afternoon, you return to Marrakech.

Imlil Valley in the High Atlas, Morocco

Day Fourteen

The High Atlas: Imlil, a Berber Family & Jebel Toubkal

From Marrakech, your private driver takes you into the High Atlas toward Imlil, at the foot of Jebel Toubkal, the highest peak in North Africa at 4,167 meters. From there, the final approach to the family home can be made on foot, by mule, or by 4x4. The family welcomes you into their home and shares stories of life in the village, local traditions, and the rhythms of the mountains, while your guide translates throughout the visit. In the kitchen, tagine simmers over a charcoal majmar and tafarnout bread bakes in the oven, while dishes such as zaalouk or tektouka reflect the flavors and cooking traditions of the High Atlas. Lunch is served privately on the terrace.
