A Few Thoughts on Majestic Morocco for Discerning Travelers

You know, Morocco is a amazing destination of contrast and although so close to Spain, but aspects of the culture, landscapes, languages , architecture and cuisine are 180° different.

In fact the diversity surprised me a lot:  normal countryside, imperial UNESCO cities, mountains with Alpine forest & snow ski area in some areas, vineyards, olive groves, coastal cites, surf towns, and of course, multiple famous deserts. In between there’s also some dramatic gorges and historic adobe villages (pictured above) that have appeared in Hollywood films.

One thing that is similar I find is the hospitality and warmth of most locals and especially the expert licensed guides and professional drivers we use for our private Morocco luxury custom tours.

That’s a really good thing for two reasons. First thanks to our excellent local partners in Morocco we are able to have the guides and drivers available for more time each day than is customary in Spain or Portugal. Second covering most of the highlights can take 2 weeks and there is a fair amount of driving. Our clients appreciate that they are in good hands as we only work with the very best drivers and very top guides.

One thing that’s important to know is that Morocco being a fairly large country means there’s a fair amount of driving time for any full country tour.

To mitigate that, we can add helicopter transfers, or add a flight from the north to the south, but that entails skipping some of the unique and diverse sites in the middle

Despite some longish drives Morocco is not at all boring to most curious people.

Next, a lot of folks have been asking me for my favorite Morocco itinerary.

Honestly, I don’t have one as it depends on who I’m traveling with as I adapt to more active members of my family, friends or clients who might enjoy riding camels in the desert, hiking mountain trails, Whitewater rafting, surfing or even snowboarding down desert sand dunes.

On the other hand, I have other family, friends and customers who are a majority and prefer Morocco’s UNESCO sites, cultural discovery, architecture or food and music and so we would do something quite different probably more like the itinerary below.

Here is our Morocco Imperial Cities private luxury journey into the exotic heart of an ancient and unique destination. Of course we can adjust all our Itineraries for Morocco for any special request.

Chaning gears, folks often ask me about Rabat the capital. While it’s not a “must see” it does have charms and unique aspects that are worthwhile for some depending on the time you have available.

So I was in Rabat just for a day and found it to be a pleasant, surprisingly modern coastal capital with lots of modern urban staples like cool cafes, creative restaurants and discos (although I am such a bad dancer that I’d not be allowed in probably LOL). There are also UNESCO cultural and historic sites in Rabat.

There are also a lot of security and street surveillance cameras are common as the king of Morocco and royal family and government officials live there.  Rabat is often quieter than the other big cities of Morocco. However, I must mention the construction projects for the city’s preparations for the 2030 World Cup can be less than ideal. So if you want to go there, be sure that your hotel is not next to one of the construction projects.

Finally, detailed planning like that take time and energy and focus.

That’s why unlike other luxury tour and travel agencies who will sell as many tours as possible at magical we believe less is more and allows us to give more personalized service and sleep well at night. That’s why we only offer five trips at a time in Morocco.
