Day One
Palma: La Seu and the Old Town by the Sea
Your licensed driver meets you at Palma airport. Once you settle in, your licensed guide walks the two of you to La Seu, the cathedral on the seashore, where a rose window nearly 14 meters across fills the east end and Gaudí and Miquel Barceló both left their mark. Facing it, the Royal Palace of La Almudaina began as an Arab fortress. Stop for an ensaïmada, the island's spiral pastry, and opt for dinner nearby.
Day Two
The Tramuntana Coast: Valldemossa, Deià and Llucalcari
Your licensed guide and driver take the coast road through the Serra de Tramuntana, a UNESCO range of olive terraces held by dry-stone walls. In Valldemossa, Chopin and George Sand spent a winter in the old monastery, where Chopin finished his Preludes. In Deià, the poet Robert Graves made his home, and Cala Deià opens on the sea below. A Day Under Sail off Formentor
At Port de Pollença, a skipper waits with a sailing boat for the two of you. The course follows the cliffs of the Formentor peninsula below the lighthouse, with an anchor dropped in a cove for a swim. Lunch comes aboard where you choose, a catered meal or a chef cooking on deck. In the late afternoon, return to the four small coves of Cala Sant Vicenç, and the evening belongs to the two of you.
Day Four
The Northern Tramuntana, Lluc and a Mallorcan Winery
Your licensed guide leads a day in the high northern Tramuntana to Lluc, the island's sanctuary in a mountain basin, home to the boys' choir of Els Blauets, named for its blue cassocks. In the afternoon, opt for Binissalem and a boutique winery working the island's red Manto Negro grape. Back in Pollença, climb the 365 steps of the Calvari stairway to a hilltop chapel before dinner, if you like.
Day Five
From Mallorca to Barcelona's Gothic Quarter
Fly to Barcelona. In the afternoon, your licensed guide starts in the Gothic Quarter, where stretches of the Roman wall still stand, and the cathedral cloister keeps 13 white geese, one for each year of Saint Eulalia's life. Plaça de Sant Jaume sits on the old Roman forum, and across Via Laietana rises Santa Maria del Mar, built by the quarter's guilds. Dinner opens with bread rubbed with ripe tomato and olive oil.
Day Six
Gaudí's Sagrada Família and Park Güell
Your licensed guide leads you inside the Sagrada Família, where Gaudí designed the columns to branch like trees and the stained glass glows blue on one side for the morning and red and orange on the other for the evening. In the afternoon, head up to Park Güell, sit on Jujol's long serpentine bench in its ceramic mosaic and look out over the city to the sea.

Montserrat and the Cava Country of the Penedès
Head up to Montserrat, where a Benedictine monastery has stood among the peaks since 1025. Your licensed guide leads you to La Moreneta, the Romanesque Virgin and patron of Catalonia, and where the schedule allows, you hear the Escolania sing. In the afternoon, opt for the Penedès, home of cava, for a tasting at a winery and a meal at the estate or a village restaurant nearby.
Day Eight
High-Speed Train to Madrid and an Evening in El Retiro
Take the high-speed train to Madrid. In the afternoon, your licensed guide walks you past the Royal Palace to Puerta del Sol and its Kilometer Zero plaque.
