Pass through huge doors into the cool stone interior of the Mezquita with over 800 columns with arches. To some it seems almost like a fantasy forest. Others feel they were given a glimpse back to a time when Moorish Spain was at the peak of its power and beauty and Córdoba was the among the largest and richest cities in Europe. MEDITERRANEAN MÁLAGA…. a revitalized yet ancient coastal city, founded by the Phoenicians, & conquered by Romans and Arabs, Málaga is set against the Mediterranean Sea and forested mountains of southern Spain. With some of Spain’s best tapas as well as excellent fish and seafood, Málaga is becoming a foodie destination and is proud of native sons and 2 Michelin-starred chefs, Dani Garcia and Jose Carlos along with a huge selection of fine tapas and wine bars. Between meals you can enjoy a Roman amphitheater and above it up the steep hill, is Málaga’s Alcazaba, a palatial Arab fortress built in the 11th century by the Moors. But to really understand the city’s history, remember that perhaps the 20th century’s #1 artist, Pablo Picasso was born here and you can enjoy the Picasso Museum, in a 16th-century palace with remnants from Phoenician times underneath.
